Pupils Aim for a Career in the Health Service

Pupils interested in a career in the health service were given the chance to find out what it is really like at a recent event organised by Babcock in Waltham Forest.

Sixty year 8 pupils and their parents, from across the borough, attended an open day organised by VTs Aim Higher team, Co-ordinator Asha Suri and Angela Anderson, where they had the opportunity to speak with health professionals in face-to-face workshops.

Nurses, pharmacists, dentists, doctors and an array of other health professionals were all on hand to advise students on qualifications, salaries, hours of work and the demands facing modern day health care.

Feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive with many pupils reporting they had been inspired by the health professionals they had spoken to.

The event is one of a series designed by Babcock to give young people a better idea of life after school.
