Students from Primary Schools in Waltham Forest have taken part in a competition to design a cover for The East London Maths Forum brochure. The Forum is an annual event held by the North East London Mathematics Association (NELMA) which gives teachers the opportunity to attend workshops led by professionals in the field of mathematics.
Students from 6 different London authorities, including Waltham Forest, were asked to design a cover to be used for the Forums brochure based on this year’s theme ‘Mathematical inspirations’.
The overall winner from across the different authorities came from a student from St. Peter and St Paul's School in Redbridge.
Prizes were also awarded for the best design by a student within each Borough, with Hristo Slavov from Whittingham Primary School awarded with the best design from a student in Waltham Forest. To mark the achievement Hristo was presented with a certificate and prize in his school assembly by Judith Goodwin, Numeracy Consultant Babcock.
Judith said: “We are delighted to reward Hirsto as the winner of the best design in Waltham Forest. We had a great deal of good designs from pupils in the Borough but we felt that Hristo had captured the theme of the Forum extremely well and had come up with an eye-catching, attractive design which made his entry stand out from the others.”
