A special event to celebrate the success of Waltham Forest’s Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) has taken place at Heathcote School. NQT’s, who have all successfully completed their induction year of teaching in Waltham Forest Schools, attended the event along with headteachers from across the borough.
180 teachers have passed during this academic year and have all been supported throughout their NQT induction year by VTs Workforce Development Team who organised the event. Christine Ewers, Workforce Development Manager, Babcock and Kathryn Ryan, Babcock NQT Co-ordinator presented each of the NQTs with certificates to mark the occasion.
Keynote speaker Lisa George, Deputy Head of Woodside Primary School in Walthamstow, shared her experiences of progressing from an NQT to her current position of Deputy Head. She offered advice to the NQT’s and highlighted their importance within our schools and the difference that they will make to children’s lives.
Christine Ewers said, "It was encouraging to see so many NQT’s who had completed their induction in Waltham Forest staying in the Borough within our schools.
The energy, enthusiasm and new ideas they bring with them is vital to schools moving forward and continually improving, which our children will benefit from. Many thanks to Heathcote School for allowing us to host this event in recognition of the great achievements made this year. "
