Recruitment and Retention Strategy

The Service   The Recruitment and Retention Team is based in the School Improvement Service and consists of a Recruitment and Retention Manager, a Recruitment Advisor, and Co-ordinator. The team is responsible for developing and delivering a workforce strategy that will support school improvement.  

Our objectives are:  

  • To ensure there is a well communicated Workforce Strategy
  • To support schools in their recruitment initiatives for the whole school workforce
  • To provide exemplar materials including policy and procedural documents to aid school improvement
  • To work with schools and our partners to identify and develop retention initiatives for the whole school workforce
  • To provide statistical data to aid school improvement and develop with our partners a sustainable Workforce Strategy.

 Who are our partners?  

The work of the team is in the main funded by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA), who provides guidance on targets for developing the whole school workforce. We also work closely with the Workforce Agreement Monitoring Group (WAMG) whose role is to monitor the National Agreement which includes changes to teacher’s roles and responsibilities in school and ensures effective use of support staff.   In order to deliver the Workforce Strategy the team are involved in a number initiatives and projects, working with organisations such as the National College for School Leadership (NCSL); Universities; local Unions and many other bodies.

  • Provision of regular updates on legal regulations related to the employment of teachers
