Assessment Centre
Training and Development
We have centre approval through OCR, the awarding body for the National Vocational Qualifications for learning, development and support services.
The assessment centre offers assessor training and NVQs at Level 3 and Level 4 to learning mentors and education welfare officers.
Learning and Development offers qualifications that are relevant to the local workforce. Employers (i.e. schools for learning mentors and the EWS for education welfare officers) are expected to bear the costs of the NVQs.
The professionalisation of learning mentors and education welfare officers will benefit schools and local authorities. As schools continue to deliver on the Every Child Matters agenda taking greater responsibility for children’s personal development and well-being, extended services, common assessment and multi-agency working, it is in the interests of schools and local authorities to have a highly trained and skilled workforce able to take on increasing responsibilities.
The benefits to schools and local authorities of having qualified practitioners are to:
- Ensure that practice is supported, safe and effective
- Enhance quality
- Increase the qualifications base of the workforce
- Develop skills and knowledge and contribute to a 'learning community'
- Widen participation in lifelong learning
